Welcome to the ScriptHelperX page. This is a program, written entirely in JavaScript, is intended to allow you to quickly hammer together a rough draft of a video or film project script using nothing more than your web browser.   It prompts you to enter the relevant information and then formats it into proper film/video scriptwriting format automagically.

DEMO: Click the button above. The online is mostly functional (some featurs were intentionally disabled) but you can try out all the main ScriptHelperX features. The online version is really just to “test drive” the program and familiarize yourself with it’s features.

PRIVACY NOTICE: Your script information remains on YOUR computer. None of your preferences or writing will be sent to a remote server. ScriptHelperX also does not collect end user information, though your IP address and system configuration information is logged when you access the KMH Creative server as part of normal usage tracking operations. None of the information can be used to personally identify users.

CAUTIONS

BUGS: This is no longer supposed to be a BETA version. That doesn’t mean it might not have some bugs in it. Also, because the online demo does not store your data beyond the session the browser window remains open don’t start writing anything with it you cannot afford to lose.

PROCESSOR: This program can be processor intensive at times. Users of systems with slow processors may experience noticable lag times between the selection of an action and its execution. This generally shouldn’t be a problem becuase it was slow, but usable on a Mac under 100 MHz. <== This should give you an idea how old this program is!

COOKIES: The online demo version of ScriptHelperX does not set any cookie files on your system (the Full Version, however, will).

WHAT’s MISSING?

• Because the program writes the script in HTML there is no way to know where the page-breaks would be when printed. So the script forms one long single page. However, if you copy and paste the content into a compatible Word Processor program you can then see where the page breaks would fall for printing..
• There is no way to spellcheck what you enter into the edit boxes unless you are using some third party program (like “SpellCatcher” on Mac). You could type the text in a program that DOES have a spellchecker, then copy and paste it into the dialogue boxes, OR you can write your script with errors, export it to HTML, import the HTML to any editor that can read it and also has a spellchecker to fix any errors. Which brings me to:
• No way to edit stuff from within ScriptHelperX once you write it into the scriptwindow preview pane.
• The online demo version does not have the “Export Script” or “E-mail Script” features enabled.
• The online demo version only lets you create one of the two cover page formats.
• Help documentation may also be a little bit incomplete. More complete information on using ScriptHelperX and compatibility is available from withing the program by clicking on the “Help” button at the top of the Scriptwindow Pallette.

This version is no longer in development and will not be updated. A new project targeting modern mobile devices called “Scription” is in development and is heavily based on this program.
